Grammy-nominated recording artist Mali Music rocked the fashion world wearing a Lincoln Continental-inspired suit designed by Detroit-based fashion designer William Malcolm at this year’s RAGTRADE Atlanta. The Lincoln Motor Company was presenting sponsor of RAGTRADE Atlanta, a highly anticipated runway show that discovers and promotes emerging designers worldwide.
Singer-songwriter-producer Mali Music released his first major album, Mali Is . . ., in 2014 and earned a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album at the 2015 Grammy Awards. Mali has received much critical and underground acclaim for his previous albums.
Mali is a part of the second installment of Lincoln’s First Listen series, part of Lincoln Now, a comprehensive story-telling platform celebrating individuality. Lincoln Now gives viewers an under-the-hood, insider’s look at some of the most intriguing curators within the fields of art, design, music, cuisine, engineering and so much more. Lincoln First Listen debuted in the summer highlighting singer and actress, V. Bozeman. In the second installment, viewers will have a first listen of Mali’s much-anticipated single, “Cryin’.”
“Lincoln is excited to work with artists of Mali’s caliber as part of our First Listen series,” said Raj Register, multicultural communications manager, Lincoln. “Our hope is to inspire others to pursue their individuality, which is inherent in our latest lineup of vehicles like the 2017 Lincoln MKZ and iconic Continental.”
Mali Music believes that teaming up with an automotive company is an ideal match. “Coming up [in the music industry] I would first test my mix in a car — it was the perfect environment,” said Music. “When I first saw the Lincoln vehicles, I realized that they fit in perfectly with my own vibe.”
As part of RAGTRADE Atlanta, Music walked the runway with a suit made specifically for him by William Malcolm. Malcolm’s Luxe Collection is known for pairing classic English tailoring with modern silhouettes.
