Tamika Owens – Director, Sales and Marketing – Southeast

Tamika Owens is a native of Nashville, TN., who completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Memphis, earning her BA in Management Information Systems. She started her career at IBM in Chicago, IL, as a Product/Territory Manager, where she successfully and consistently exceeded her goal, reaching maximizing profits of $15mm+.

Tamika successfully transitioned those skills to pharmaceutical sales, where she was routinely recognized as the subject matter expert for driving brand messaging, peer mentoring and territory expansion. Tamika decided to push the envelope even further by branching out into the advertising and publishing industry, as an Account Executive, for the world’s largest African-American owned-operated company.

Tamika leveraged her success as a proven sales leader to develop account specific integrated sales plans, resulted in market penetration and untapped revenue generating avenues. It was in this role that Tamika was exposed to the African-American hair care industry, which led to her accepting a role at Avalon Industries, as a Chain Salon Account Manager. Tamika was able to utilize her persuasive presentation skills, brand knowledge and customer-centered approach to expand existing customer relationships and generate new business opportunities, resulting in $3m+ of incremental business sales opportunities. She joins us from her most recent role at the National Black MBA Association, as a Relationship Manager for Partner Development, where she was responsible for the creation of intellectual and economic wealth in the black community.

As First Choice continues to direct their focus on global expansion, market penetration and brand differentiation, Tamika was the obvious choice for the Senior Account Manager position.
