Lisa J. Wicker is internationally recognized as a human resources thought leader and career strategist.
Dr. Wicker is the Founder of Linwick & Associates, LLC., a certified Women Business Enterprise (WBE). As President & CEO, she leads the global Human Resources firm with offices in Detroit, Michigan and Charlotte. North Carolina. Linwick & Associates companies include four Divisions, including Career Mastered, a Women’s Leadership Program; Excel Village, a 501C(3) learning and career planning organization for youth, Victory House Press, a publishing company and the parent company Linwick & Associates, LLC., HR Consulting and Career Planning.
Previously, Dr. Wicker was Vice President International HR and Allied Businesses for Lowe’s Home Improvement Company Inc. In this position, Wicker was responsible for Lowe’s successful entry and growth in India and the HR due diligence for all international and domestic merges and acquisitions. She was also responsible for developing short and long term strategies for all aspects of how the company engages talent for a competitive advantage throughout its Allied Businesses – Orchard, Alacrity, Iris and Porch.com as well as Mexico, Australia and Canada. In addition, Wicker provides HR business Partnership to Strategy, Business Development and International Groups in China, Hong Kong, Vietnam.
In 2011, Dr. Wicker was named Vice President Employee Relations and HR Compliance for Lowe’s. In this role, Wicker provided strategic leadership, direction and guidance in the areas of employee relations, labor relations, HR processes, policies and HR compliance across 1,800 plus stores and distribution centers for more than 260,000 employees.
Additionally, Dr. Wicker held leadership roles with General Motors Corporation and Chrysler LLC. These roles included Chief Diversity Officer, Head of Talent Acquisitions, Director Leadership Development, and Human Resources Executive for Manufacturing, Advance Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, and Stamping Operations in the automotive industry.
Prior to joining Chrysler in 2001, Ms. Wicker was Vice President of Human Resources MGM Grand where she was an Officer and responsible for the successful entry of the gaming industry into the Detroit Metropolitan market.
She is internationally recognized as a leader in human resources, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness with over 30 years of experience in some of Corporate America’s most notable companies. She has presented to global audiences representing more than eighty countries on the subject of organizational behavior, change management, workplace morale and engagement, work life effectiveness, diversity and inclusion in such countries as Spain, Korea, India, Canada, Mexico and Germany.
Dr. Wicker served on the Lowe’s Charitable Foundation Board of Trustees, served as Chair of the Audit Committee and Board of Trustees for Stillman College, Vice Chair Alternatives for Girls, and a member of the White House Steering Committee on Historically Black Colleges & Universities (HBCUs).
Ms. Wicker was voted “One of the most successful business women in Detroit” by the Detroit News, a recipient of the “Uptown Professional Magazine” 2012 Top Executives in America, Michigan Chronicle Women of Excellence Award, and 2003 Career Communications National Women of Color “Professional Achievement Award.” She is the founder and honorary chair of the Metropolitan Detroit’s 101 Best Companies to Work For.
She is an author of leadership and employee engagement books including The Winning Spirit: Building Employee Enthusiasm. She served as an adjunct professor at Wayne State University in the School of Business Administration’s Graduate Program. She is a graduate of the Detroit Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Detroit program and has been called upon to present to various audiences including private industry, government and educational institutions including Syracuse University, MIT, Tennessee State University, and State of Michigan EEOC.
A native of Greenville, Mississippi, Wicker earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Labor Relations from Michigan State University, Master’s Degree in Business Management from Central Michigan University and Ph.D. in Management from California Coast University. She attended the University of Michigan’s Executive Business School and the International Institute Advanced Executive Program for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland.
