Floyd W. Green, III is Vice President and head of Community Relations and Urban Marketing for Aetna, Inc. He is responsible for developing grass roots marketing strategies to assist in business development, customer retention, healthcare disparities and strategic partnerships. He is also responsible for Aetna’s corporate philanthropic investments to strengthen Aetna’s brand which includes local and national granting, expanding employee volunteerism and employee gift matching programs. His organization manages the implementation of Aetna’s urban marketing strategies designed to address the multicultural/multilingual and generational needs of key constituents as well as to develop alternative distribution channels across all market segments. Finally, his organization is responsible for all national and local events/trade shows as well as the company’s award winning international briefing center.
In January 2013, Floyd was appointed to the national board of the Americans for the Arts. In 2012, he was appointed Commissioner by Mayor Pedro E. Segarra, Mayor of Hartford to the Capital Region Development Authority. In addition, he serves on the boards of the Center for Disease Control (CDC) National Partnership Board for HIV/AIDS, Xavier University’s Corporate Advisory Board, New Orleans, Uptown Professional Board of Advisors and the Howard University’s School of Communications Board of Visitors.
He is a member of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC), Actor’s Equity Association, the National Association of Health Services Executives, the National Alliance of Market Developers and a lifetime member of the National Black MBA’s and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated.
Floyd is the recipient of many professional and civic awards including 2010 BEYA Emerald Award for Community Outreach in science, technology, engineering and mathematic (STEM), 2011 Hartford Children’s Theater Kid at Heart award, the 2011 CT Rivers Boy Scout of America’s Whitney M Young Award, Alpha Phi Alpha’s 2011 National Corporate Rock Star, 2012 Alpha Phi Alpha Nu Chapter Centennial Brother of the Decade, 2011 – 2012 and 2014 Uptown Professional magazine’s top 100 executives in corporate America, one of Savoy Magazine’s 2012 and 2014 selection as 100 most influential black executives in corporate America. He has been awarded the 2013 Connecticut’s 100 Men of Color award, the 2013 Connecticut NAACP’s Top 100. Most recently he was honored by BlackDoctors.org/Johns Hopkins Center for Health Disparities Solutions as one of their 2014 most influential Blacks in Healthcare, the Connecticut’s George W. Crawford Black Bar Association 2014 Leadership award, featured as one of STEMconnector’s 2014 100 Diverse Corporate Leaders in STEM for STEAM and received the 2015 Catalyst Award for Transformational Leadership by The Conference of Churches (The 224), the 2015 CT NAACP 100 Most Influential Leader and the 2015 DTC Perspectives Outstanding Multicultural Health Marketer of the Year award for innovation among key multicultural populations in America Finally, Floyd was given the 2015 Merit Award during the National Action Network’s Martin Luther King Breakfast in Washington, DC.
Floyd graduated with high honors from Lincoln University in Oxford, Pennsylvania with a B.S. degree in History/Public Affairs. He received a MBA in Marketing/Strategy from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management, Malibu, California. Born in Newport News, Virginia, Floyd now resides in Hartford, Connecticut.
